Mary pursued her Masters of Social Work from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mary has experience working in refugee resettlement, integrated care, domestic and sexual violence services, community mental health, and military and family life counseling. Throughout her educational and professional career Mary has been passionate about serving diverse populations who have experienced trauma, domestic and sexual violence, and sexual exploitation. Mary is excited to have joined the incredible team at A Village For One as the Washington County Clinician, and to have the privilege to support youth and young adults in their journeys of healing. In her free time Mary enjoys playing volleyball, doing yoga, and walking her puppy. |

Brie (she/hers) Brie believes that therapy can empower people to be the best that they can be, by having someone to support them through processes, healing, and growth. Brie has worked with survivors of trafficking and exploitation, survivors of domestic and sexual violence, youth in foster care and adopted youth, and the houseless population as a social worker for over 7 years. Her therapy practice is client-driven, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and holistic. Brie uses CBT techniques, DBT techniques, motivational interviewing, art therapy techniques, narrative therapy techniques to provide a safe therapeutic relationship and environment with her clients. Brie enjoys working with teenagers and young adults, especially if they are sarcastic, as humor is Brie’s favorite and most used defense mechanism. |

Katie (she/her) began working at A Village For One in 2020 when Anisa’s Place first opened. Katie has a degree in cultural anthropology and is passionate about non-profit work, and working within local communities . Having held several different positions at AV41, Katie has enjoyed getting to know the individuals that we work with in each program and the ongoing journey of learning about services and the systems within mental health services. In her free time Katie enjoys backpacking, traveling to new destinations and exploring the beauty of the PNW. |

Melissa Erickson is excited to join A Village for One as the Development Director. She has 10+ years experience in fundraising at local Portland nonprofits and a passion for social justice, human rights, and women's rights. She moved to Oregon in 2010 from Philadelphia and has a Masters Degree in Anthropology from Oregon State University. She has a BA in Writing, Literature and Publishing and wrote and published a book in 2014 called Sisters, Sunsets and Self Discovery. She has two young boys, Ember and Archer and loves weekend adventures with her family, travel, dancing, hiking and camping. |

Becky (Meng) Zhang joined A Village For One in 2019 after relocating to Portland from the east coast. As the Program Development Specialist, a.k.a. "paperwork queen", Becky oversees the policy development, licensing and accreditation, quality assurance, and grant management of the organization. Becky is Project Management Professional (PMP) certified and has 15 years of working experience in a variety of fields, including project management, organizational development, translation, educational research, public relations, and media production. Originally from China, Becky holds a bachelor’s degree in Arabic and English, and a master’s in radio and television, a doctorate in mass communication and a graduate certificate in women’s studies. Outside of her work at AV41, Becky is a freelance translator and consultant, and enjoys cooking, rock climbing, and most recently Hula dancing! |

Kin is a Professional Counselor Associate. Kin joined AV41 in 2023 as the Marion County outpatient clinician, doing vital community-based collaborative work with youth while also serving a member of the clinical team of the organization. Kin holds a decade of clinical experience as a licensed psychologist in Israel, where she worked in a spectrum of settings, mainly with youth and adults who faced complex PTSD and significant mental health challenges. In her attachment-based therapeutic work, Kin strives to create trust, authenticity and playfulness and to support clients in their self-reflection and change processes via various evidence-based techniques and modalities. On her time off work, Kin enjoys exploring the outdoors with her two young kids and partner, creating art, learning about new cultures, dancing and being involved in community life. |
